Authorisation, deductibles, supplements, storage, cancellation and what happens if the insurer and the repair plan disagree.

Nothing is charged without a written authorisation

No work begins and nothing is charged until there is a signed authorisation to repair. That document is a contract and it is entirely reasonable to read it before signing it. Ask what the storage terms are and what happens if part of a supplement is declined.

Estimates are free; teardown may not be

A written estimate costs nothing. Teardown is different: taking a car apart to find out what is actually damaged is real labour, and if the repair does not then proceed, that labour has still happened. Where teardown is needed, it is quoted and authorised separately before it starts, so it can never arrive as a surprise.

Deductibles

Your deductible is your share and it is payable on collection. We cannot make it disappear, and nobody who offers to should be trusted with your car — absorbing a deductible generally means recovering it somewhere else in the repair.

Supplements

A supplement is a revision to the estimate after teardown, agreed with the insurer before the work is done. It is the normal shape of a real repair and it is not an additional bill arriving after the fact. If an insurer declines part of a supplement, you will be told, in writing, before anything is done about it.

Storage

Storage charges, where they apply, accrue daily and are disclosed in the authorisation rather than discovered later. A vehicle left after it is ready for collection may incur them; a vehicle waiting on a part we ordered will not.

Cancellation

You may take the car elsewhere at any point. What is payable is what has already been done: any authorised teardown labour, any parts already ordered specifically for your vehicle that cannot be returned, and any storage already accrued. Nothing else.

If the car has been disassembled, reassembly for transport is also real labour and is quoted before it is done.

Refunds

If you have paid for work that was not performed, it is refunded. If work was performed incorrectly, it is put right. Written warranty terms on workmanship are provided with the final invoice and are available on request before you authorise anything. This site does not publish a warranty claim it was not given.

How to pay

Payment is due on collection unless other arrangements have been agreed in writing. Where an insurer is paying directly, their payment and your deductible are handled separately and both are itemised on the final invoice.
